Universal Pictures will release Ultra HD Blu-Ray movies this Summer

With 4K TVs seemingly being more common these days, Universal Pictures has announced that they will begin to roll out Ultra HD Blu-Ray versions of their movies this Summer.

In a report by Variety, Universal has stated that the company will begin a progressive rollout of its titles with a mix of new and recent releases. Some of the titles that Universal has confirmed will be coming to Ultra HD Blu-Ray include Lone Survivor, Lucy, Everest, Warcraft and Jason Bourne. Besides Ultra HD Blu-Rays, Universal Pictures has also stated that the company will be offering IMAX films as well. 

Besides 4K Blu-Rays, Universal has also stated that they will be offering the movies in 4K digital formats, all of which will feature 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range. Additionally, some of those movies may even include multi-dimensional sound.

Universal Pictures is aiming to have at least 100 titles available in 4K by the end of the year. Only time will tell if the studio is able to meet this target.
