UltraGear 17G90Q: LG’s first ever gaming laptop

We’ve always known LG for its TVs and home appliances but now, the company is broadening its horizons by its first-ever gaming laptop, called the LG UltraGear 17G90Q.

Just like LG’s lightweight laptops, the UltraGear 17G90Q is built with portability in mind and sports a thin, streamlined design with a thickness under 21.4mm and weight less than 2.7kg. The casing is made out of aluminum to offer increased durability while maintaining a premium look.

It packs a 17.3-inch FHD IPS panel that pushes a whopping 300Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is an 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake H Core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics card. This laptop comes with up to 1TB of storage and you can choose between 16 or 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

You also get LG’s gaming software — LG UltraGear Studio, which allows you to track your CPU clock, GPU TDP and clock, and memory share rate in real time. For you RGB-lovers, this laptop does come with an RGB backlit keyboard and each key is customisable with the software.

Contrary to its slim and compact design, the UltraGear 17G90Q  provides an array of ports to your usage:

  • 2x USB 4 Gen 3 Type-C
  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2
  • HDMI
  • Ethernet
  • MicroSD card slot
  • Headphone jack

Other than that, the device packs a 1080p webcam, a 93Wh battery, a fingerprint reader on the power button, Wi-Fi 6, and even its own cooling system.

The LG UltraGear 17G90Q will be available in the colour Purple Gray and sales for it will start early 2022 in the United States and South Korea. For more information, you can check out LG’s on 4 January 8AM PST for CES 2022.
