This UK apartment gives you Uber credits for giving up your parking spot

We can all agree that ride sharing services are beneficial in a way that they reduce the number of drivers on the road. Specific featured services such as UberPOOL encourages users to carpool in the ride sharing app, which cuts down the number of vehicles on the road in the long run. Uber has partnered up with a UK apartment developer, whereby residents receive Uber credits for giving up their parking spaces.

Moda Living UK and Uber have set up a unique kind of collaboration for the former’s future residents. Instead of having to rent a parking space on a monthly basis, Moda Living has provided an alternative to its future apartment residents. The property developer is offering up to £100 in Uber credits per month for residents who are willing to give up their parking spaces.

As an added bonus, Moda Living will convert former parking spaces into new amenities for the benefit of residents, such as media rooms and fitness centres. Through this partnership, both Uber and Moda Living hope to reduce traffic congestion and pollution in London, UK. This collaboration will encourage the reduction of vehicle ownership as well.

While this certainly sounds like a step towards a more sustainable development, it will take a some time before we experience the positive effects from an idea like this one. Will this idea work in Malaysia?
