U Mobile to launch Roam-Onz to replace Data Backpack

As U Mobile’s popular Data Backpack promotion comes to an end today, the telco has sent out a message to customers the arrival of the Roam-Onz service, as local tech blog Vernonchan.com has captured in a screenshot, U Mobile customers will be getting free data roaming in 12 popular countries and more details will be unveiled tomorrow, its definitely an exciting time to be a U Mobile subscriber if you are thinking to travel soon.

U Mobile’s Data Backpack was unveiled last year, which offers free data roaming to Postpaid customers subscribed to Hero Postpaid P70, P98, UD90, UD138, i90 and i130 plans on over 12 countries, which includes Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand, customers are then able to use their local data quota when travelling on these countries with U Mobile’s preferred roaming partner.

With this re-branding exercise, could U Mobile be offering the Roam-Onz to all of its postpaid subscribers? Or could it be free unlimited calls from these 12 popular countries? Our eyes are definitely fixed on the telco’s website now.
