U Mobile has announced that it has officially signed the 5G Access Agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad on 30 October 2022, and customers can expect to enjoy 5G services from as early as 3 November 2022 onwards, making it the third telco to offer 5G services commercially in Malaysia after TM and Yes.

“U Mobile is supportive of the government’s vision of a single wholesale network for 5G deployment, whereby all operators will have access to the same network without differentiation in terms of speed and quality. Hence, we are delighted to have signed the 5G Access Agreement and be part of this network. We have full faith that DNB will honour the mandate of providing quality 5G coverage and capacity on an equitable and non-discriminatory basis,” said Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile.

U Mobile’s 5G services will be extended to both postpaid and prepaid customers, which includes the U Postpaid 38, 68, 98 and U FamilyShare lines, the good news is there won’t be a separate quota on 4G and 5G on the existing plans, whereas customers on the U25 an U35 prepaid plan will be required to redeem the Speed Booster feature in order to enjoy 5G speeds.
