It’s been a long time coming – we’ve been waiting forever for a 5G phone to be available for purchase in the country; and it looks like we’re getting it in the form of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G via U Mobile’s Unlimited HERO postpaid plan.
If you sign up for the Unlimited HERO P139 plan, you can buy the device from RM1,599 (RRP RM4,199) – this plan ties you to a RM139/month bill with uncapped unlimited 4G data, unlimited calls to all networks and a 50GB mobile hotspot quota. New users need to fork out a RM1,056 upfront payment however.
If you get the Unlimited HERO P99 plan, you’ll pay RM99/month and can buy the phone from RM1,959. You’ll still get unlimited 4G data and calls to all networks, but with a 30GB hotspot quota.
You also get a Huawei wireless car charger and an extra one-year warranty along with a one month screen protection warranty too.

A U Mobile representative also told us that although you’ll be using 4G networking now, once 5G is available (which should be around July), your service will be automatically upgraded to the 5G too without any additional charges. Visit U Mobile’s website here to make your pruchase.
