If there was ever a Bluetooth speaker that’s made like a Swiss Army knife, the Tronsmart Force Pro would be it – this multifaceted speaker impressed me with its range of features that go beyond just blasting tunes.
For RM459 however, is the speaker worth the dent in your bank account? Read on to find out what I think!
Design
The Force Pro doesn’t boast much aesthetically – it sports a simple all-black exterior, along with a rugged bumper on the front and back. The finish for the rest of the speaker is a soft rubbery texture that unfortunately picks up dust and dirt too easily – but it’s nothing a quick wipe down with a damp cloth can’t fix.
The speaker weighs about 1.34 KG making it quite a hefty device – you pair that with its rather chonky 240mm x 110mm x 70mm size, the Force Pro isn’t the most comfortable portable speaker to carry around in your backpack.
What you get in return with all that girth is sturdy build quality – the speaker is IPX7 waterproof-certified so you can take it for a dive.
Features
At the top of the device you’ll find set of buttons for volume control, change modes, audio playback, power, and broadcast mode which we’ll get into a bit later.
Just in front of these controls are the speaker’s ports which includes an aux-in, TF/microSD card slot, USB-A, and a USB-C port for charging – and here lies one of the reasons that make this speaker a multifaceted device.
Each mode works as intended, and although you’ll mostly be connecting to the speaker via Bluetooth, or using an aux-in cord, the other input comes in handy should you need them.
Going back to the aforementioned broadcast mode – it’s a neat feature that lets you sync audio output with over 100 other Tronsmart speakers – letting you fill up more of the space with music. Getting it to work is a simple as tapping on the broadcast button once on the host device, and twice on the other device.
Audio performance
The Force Pro comes with four front-facing speakers – two for mid and low frequencies, and two for highs. At the back, you have your sub-woofer.
Together, these speakers offer loud volume and bass-heavy audio, which is great for hip hop, or dance music. Unfortunately, the overall balance is found wanting – with mids often being drowned out by the low and high frequencies.
This makes the audio presentation a little muddy – meaning it won’t perform well for songs that demand crisp sounds like rock, synth pop, and the sort.
Battery performance
The speaker is powered by a massive 10,000mAh battery and Tronsmart claims it can last up to 15 hours of playtime if you ste your volume at 50%. I never really go above 40% because of how loud the speaker gets, and I was able to get more than 15 hours of playtime, and still have enough gas left in the tank.
This is a good thing, because the device can double as a power bank as well. This is where the whole Swiss army knife analogy makes the most sense I suppose.
Verdict
For RM459, the Tronsmart Force Pro is a great party speaker thanks to its loud, bassy audio output, long battery life, and waterproof rating. With plenty of output modes, a powerbank feature, and syncing ability, I think you’re getting your money’s worth with this one.
