TikTok to have its own music streaming service to rival Spotify and Apple Music

TikTok is increasingly becoming more popular across the globe and it makes sense for its Chinese creators, ByteDance, to expand its offerings.

One avenue which the company apparently plans to explore is in the music streaming – it’s the most natural progression for the video-sharing app. TikTok’s content heavily relies on music to accompany its users’ videos and it makes sense that it could also let users listen to just the music.

According to a report by Engadget, the on-demand music streaming service is in the pipeline as ByteDance are reportedly in talks with entertainment studios Sony, Universal and Warner to license music.

We don’t know if the service will get its own dedicated app, or be integrated into the existing TikTok app, but we reckon it’ll face an uphill battle with the likes of Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music already tussle for market share.
