This 8-inch tablet by Micromax can make phone calls

Micromax, an Indian manufacturer has been dominant in its own nation, making it the top smartphone maker in India. This time, the company has unveiled yet another affordable tablet – the Micromax Canvas Tab P681, an 8-incher that can make phone calls like smartphones.

The 8-inch IPS dsiplay of the Canvas Tab P681 unfortunately isn’t at full HD resolution, but rather, WXGA resolution at 800 x 1280. Underneath the hood, the tablet sports a quad core MediaTek MT8321 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via micro SD, though support for up to 64GB or 128GB will sound better. The cameras aren’t much to sneeze at considering that this is a tablet – a 5MP rear camera plus a 2MP front facing camera.

The Canvas Tab P681 packs a modestly sized battery of 4,000mAh capacity. As mentioned earlier, this tablet is capable of making voice calls, plus it supports two SIM cards via its dual SIM slot, a feature that doesn’t come around too often in tablets. Connectivity however, is only limited to 3G. The Canvas Tab P681 will be shipped running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. As Micromax is an India exclusive manufacturer, we won’t be expecting the tablet to go international. The Canvas Tab P681 carries a price tag of 7,499 INR (RM464.61), which is value for money for what Micromax offers. What do you think?
