The Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 gets a silent launch treatment with a sub RM1,000 price

The last tablet that Xiaomi launched dated more than a year ago back in 2015. Since the Mi Pad 2, Xiaomi has been focusing on its smartphone lineup and many other products including household appliances apart from tablets. Last year saw the introduction of the Mi Notebook Air by the company, plus a beautiful bezel-less concept smartphone – the Mi MIX. Xiaomi’s success hasn’t died down since but it did not seem too proud, giving its new tablet a silent introduction. The Mi Pad 3 is finally official, sporting a simlar design to its predecessor.

First off, you’ll see a 7.9-inch display in 2,048 x 1,536 resolution. Underneath the hood lies a MediaTek MT8176 processor, the same one seen in the equally powerful ASUS Zenpad 3S 10. The Mi Pad 3 runs with 4GB of RAM and comes with 64GB of internal storage which sadly isn’t expandable. The tablet features a camera package of 13MP and 5MP for the rear and front shooters respectively, if that’s important for you. Also, it packs a 6,600mAh battery, which sounds sufficient for the amount of processing power.

The sale of the Mi Pad 3 will begin later today in China, coming with a price tag of CNY 1,499 (RM963.19), which is value for money like most of the company’s devices. The tablet will likely remain a China-exclusive device for the near future. What do you think of the Mi Pad 3?
