The Surface Laptop Go 2 can now be purchased from RM3488

The Surface Laptop Go 2 has gone on sale in Malaysia, the entry-level laptop from Microsoft has received a processor upgrade along with a few hardware improvements, while retaining the exact same design as the previous model but still, it is the only laptop at the RM3000 price range that still doesn’t come with a backlit keyboard.

Well, if a non-backlit keyboard isn’t a deal breaker for you, the Surface Laptop Go 2 should offer a significant performance bump with the Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, it’s not quite the latest processor from Intel but it will do fine for most productivity workloads, the base 64GB eMMC model has thankfully been removed and now starts at 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM, the SSD is a removable one which you can upgrade at a later time.

Featuring a 12.4-inch PixelSense touch display, the Surface Laptop Go 2 weighs 1.1kg and is the lightest laptop of its class, ports selection remain the same with one USB-C and A port, a Surface Connect port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, the 720 HD webcam has been updated to offer better image quality than the previous model, and finally, it offers up to 13.5 hours of battery life, a slight 0.5 hour increase from the previous model.

Pricing wise, the Surface Laptop Go 2 will start at RM3488 for the base storage model and goes up to RM3788 for the 8GB+256GB storage model, which isn’t competitive if you compare to other Windows laptops of the same price range, but hey, if you want a small 12-inch laptop for school and work, this is probably the only choice you have right now.
