The OnePlus X will not have a successor

No longer than two days ago, OnePlus has officially launched its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 3. The smartphone has since gone on sale without invites, a sign of a more mature OnePlus. The Chinese manufacturer has released a mid range device last year, the OnePlus X, and fans are awaiting a follow up on the device. Well, it looks like there won’t be a follow up to the OnePlus X.

According to OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, there won’t be a successor to the OnePlus X, as the folks plan to solely focus on the one “true flagship”. Lau admitted that the company was slightly negligent in 2015, which saw the release of both the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X, and probably halved the attention on the company’s previous flagship. The OnePlus X, which was launched last fall, got quite some praise from both consumers and reviewers from the tech industry. But OnePlus intends to focus on just one device a year for the foreseeable future.

On another note, the OnePlus 3 has received largely positive reviews so far, with the return of NFC, a better camera, fast charging capabilities and a huge amount of RAM (6GB) underneath the hood. What do you think of OnePlus’ future plans?
