The OnePlus 3T has begun selling in the US further today. Announced last week, the handset is basically a OnePlus 3 with a new processor, an extra double storage option, an improved selfie camera with a new Gun Metal Dark Gray color. Since the unveiling of the OnePlus 3T, owners of the older OnePlus 3 weren’t only jealous, but at the same time worried about their fate with OnePlus’ software updates.
According to OnePlus, both OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T owners will be receiving software updates at the same time. But many users are more concerned about the obsolesence of the OnePlus 3, which has been discontinued since the release of the OnePlus 3T. According to a report by Android Authority, the Chinese company has claimed that the older OnePlus 3 will continue getting updates as long as the OnePlus 3T remains in its update life cycle. In other words, until software support ends for the OnePlus 3T, the OnePlus 3 will still be receiving updates.
This is definitely good news for OnePlus 3 owners if they happen to feel left out, and this means that in terms of software, OnePlus will roll out software updates to both the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T at the same time and till it stops support for the newer OnePlus 3T. Both devices are slated to get their share of Android Nougat with the company’s famously clean and customizable near stock Android Oxygen OS. OnePlus has been known for its delay in pushing out updates, so let’s hope that the company doesn’t carry on its old habits.
