The Movada Connect joins the ranks of premium Android smartwatches

Movado, a luxury timepiece maker has just announced its partnership with Google to venture into the tech world of wearables. Going on the path taken by the likes of Tag Heuer and Michael Kors, Movado has unveiled an Android Wear smartwatch that will be going on sale at the later part of this year.

The smartwatch is named the Movado Connect. It will boast Movado’s beautiful craftsmanship of timepieces which will also feature “cutting edge technology platform” which is Android Wear 2.0. The Movado Connect features the company’s own signature edge-to-edge crystal design. Users can choose from 5 different dial designs inspired Movado’s Iconic Museum dial. Apart from the fact that it will run on Android Wear 2.0, the Movado Connect has support for Google’s digital wallet platform Android Pay, meaning that it has NFC. Apart from that, nothing much has been said of the upcoming wearable, so do expect features that come with Android Wear 2.0 such as the support for Google Assistant.

The Movado Connect will be available in a total of 5 men’s styles. It will go on sale this fall in the US, the Caribbean, Canada and the UK for a price tag starting at $495 (RM2,209.28). Fellow household names in the fashion industry – Tommy Hilfiger and Hugo Boss, which are both under the Movado group, will be partnering up with Google later this year as well.
