The Moto Z2 Play gets updated to Android Oreo

If you own a Moto Z2 Play, head on over to the About Phone page and hit the update button, because an Android Oreo update has just landed with an April 2018 security patch, this is a much anticipated update that is long overdue, considering the fact that the phone comes with stock Android, it should be updated a few months down the road as soon as a major Android version is released, but it is better late than never.

The update log didn’t mention any new features added with the Oreo update, but there is obviously performance improvements and bug fixes in the update which you probably won’t notice, the update size is about 1.1GB so make sure you stay connected to a WiFi network when doing so. The Moto Z2 Play was launched last year as one of the most slimmest mid-range phones with support for Moto Mods, the phone was powered by a Snapdragon 626 processor paired to 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, it sports a 12MP f/1.7 main camera and a front facing 5MP camera with dual tone LED flash. The phone has fared very well in our review previously, notably the great battery life and reliable performance, it is still a phone that we still recommend getting today if you are willing to invest into Moto Mods.

Time to hit that update button on your Z2 Play, and let’s hope Motorola will let this phone live till Android P.
