The Mi Max Prime sports a more powerful Snapdragon 652 processor

Xiaomi is introducing a new phablet in conjunction with its three day Diwali sale in India next week. Well technically it isn’t a whole new handset, but rather, a slight upgrade from a current one – the Xiaomi Mi Max. Xiaomi will be launching the Mi Max Prime, a slightly higher end version compared to its older sibling.

Cosmetically, there seems to be no difference between the Mi Max and the Mi Max Prime. They both feature a colossal 6.4-inch display in 1080p resolution, the same 16MP rear camera and 5MP selfie camera. Other similarities include the massive 4,850mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow onboard software, with MIUI 8 coming soon. The differences occur within the heart of the handset, with the Mi Max Prime sporting a slightly more powerful mid range processor than the Mi Max, an upgrade from the hexa-core Snapdragon 650 to the octa-core Snapdragon 652. RAM has also been increased up to 4GB from 3GB. Not only that, internal storage has seen a huge boost to 128GB, from the 32GB configuration on the Mi Max. Having said that, the memory of both phablets can be further expanded via a micro SD card.

As mentioned earlier, the Mi Max Prime will be available when Xiaomi’s India Diwali sale commences next week starting 17th of October. Xiaomi has a couple of its other products that will be available at discounted prices respectively with a few more surprises to be announced by the company later this week. What do you think of the Xiaomi Mi Max Prime?
