The Lenovo Legion Duel gaming phone launched in Europe: Starts at €999.99 (RM4,879)

The Lenovo Legion Duel gaming smartphone is finally launched bringing to the market yet another gaming smartphone alongside the likes of the ROG Phone, Black Shark, and RedMagic.

The phone was one of the most anticipated devices of 2020 because it’s Lenovo’s first foray into the gaming smartphone market – bearing the Predator brand, it’s got one heck of a reputation to live up to.

The phone is priced at 999.99 Euro (RM4,879) and comes in only one capacity variant – 16GB RAM + 512GB internal storage. It’s a lot pricier than in its native China, but that could be mainly due to Europe’s high VAT rates. There are two colours to choose from, however – the very menacing sounding Vengeance Red and Blazing Blue.

The phone packs a 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel that pushes a refresh rate of 144Hz, which is right up there with the likes of competitors ROG Phone 3 and RedMagic 5G.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 865+ chipset making it a bona fide gaming beast. There’s, of course, support for 5G connectivity, and you get LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.

For imaging, you get a 64MP main lens and a 16MP ultrawide angle lens. For selfies, you get a 20MP horizontal pop-up camera – this is arguably the most interesting design of the Legion Duel, because it makes live streaming easier for mobile gamers.

Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging, which Lenovo claims can charge the phone completely in just 30 minutes.

The phone comes with two USB C charging ports – the second is placed on the side (bottom when in horizontal orientation); this keeps any cables away from your hand when your gaming. For audio, there’s also a dual front-firing speaker too. It’s also got haptic triggers which like that on the ROG Phone.

There’s no word yet on when the phone will arrive in Malaysia, but according to a report by GSM Arena, the phone will ship to the Asia Pacific this October 15.
