The last time we spoke of the HUAWEI nova 5, we were expecting a 48MP camera, a 6.39-inch AMOLED display, a under-display fingerprint scanner and also a Kirin 980 chipset. Most of them are still expected to be coming with the nova 5, except for the last one.

He Gang, the head of HUAWEI’s smartphone division has announced that a new Kirin chipset will be coming into the market and we believe that it might be the 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. It will probably make its debut with the nova 5, replacing the Kirin 710 chipset that was used in most of their midrange phones.

First and foremost, we’re surely expecting the Kirin 810 chipset to be much better than the Kirin 710 chipset. This chipset is said to have eight cores and will include the ARM Cortex-A76 and Mali-G52 GPU. That being said, there’s still a possibility that the nova 5 could end up with the Kirin 980 processor.

Well, at least we’re still expecting the nova 5 to sport a 4,200mAh battery that comes with 40w fast charging. It’ll be exciting to test out the new chipset if it’s integrated in the nova 5, but if the phone comes with the flagship chipset, we’re not complaining. There’s only two days left till the launch date, so we’ll have to be patient.
