The Huawei MateBook reaches Malaysia tomorrow, prices start from RM3999 to RM6699

Huawei introduced its first ever convertible notebook back in Mobile World Congress this year and the MateBook is finally going on sale tomorrow at Malaysian shores, the notebook has a Microsoft Surface Pro inspired design and even features a keyboard cover as well, however when it comes to performance, the Huawei MateBook is powered by Intel’s Skylake Core m processors and comes in m3, m5 and m7 configurations, the notebook will also come with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD. The Matebook is set to compete with Microsoft’s Surface Pro and Apple’s Macbook as well, it sports a premium full metal aluminum unibody chassis while measuring 6.9mm thin and weighing 640g, which makes it the lightest Windows convertible notebook ever produced. Furthermore, the notebook comes with a 12-inch IPS display with a 2160×1440 resolution that has a 84% screen-to-body ratio.

Apart from being just a 2-in-1 machine, the MateBook sports two unique features of its own, an optional stylus called the MatePen will let you scribble and draw on the device’s screen with up to 2048 levels of sensitivity and 100 hours of battery life, the Matebook also features a side fingerprint scanner which Huawei claims it having the fastest recognition in the industry. Since the Matebook is powered by an efficient Core m proessor, it also has a fanless design which delivers a silent computing experience. Probably the downside of the Matebook would be expandability, as it only has a single USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack, but thankfully Huawei has included a USB Type-C to Micro-USB cable and Micro-USB to USB-A adaptor in the box.

The Huawei MateBook will be available for purchase starting tomorrow (July 30, 2016) at VMall.my and all Huawei experience stores with the following configurations and retail price:

MateBook (Core m3, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD) – RM3,999
MateBook (Core m5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) – RM5,399
MateBook (Core m7, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD) – RM6,699

Prices are inclusive of GST and the Huawei Keyboard, while the MatePen and MateDock can be purchased separately at RM369 and RM399 respectively.
