The ASUS ZenFone 3s Max is a slight upgrade from the ZenFone 3 Max

Although The ASUS ZenFone 3 Max was just launched not too long ago, the company has unveiled its successor in India, three months after it released the ZenFone 3 Max in the region. Packing a bigger battery, the ZenFone 3s Max is sports just enough to qualify it as an upgrade from its six month old predecessor.

Jumping into the spec sheet, the ZenFone 3s Max unfortunately still features a mediocre 720p display measuring at 5.2-inches, though its screen to body ratio has signifcantly improved from 67.7 percent to 75 percent. The ZenFone 3s Max remains powered by a MediaTek processor like its predecessor, but runs on a different MT6750 chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz. ASUS seems to only have one memory configuration this time round, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, with expansion via micro SD.

The ASUS Zenfone 3s Max sports a 13MP rear facing shooter with an f/2.0 aperture. The front facing selfie camera has been bumped up to 8 megapixels from the 5MP snapper on the ZenFone 3 Max. One of the key selling points of the ZenFone 3 Max is its battery, and ASUS has greatly increased its capacity. The ZenFone 3s Max packs a huge 5,000mAh battery, nearly 20 percent more than the ZenFone 3 Max. On top of that, the handset operates Android Nougat out of the box, which is a great welcome as well.

Available on India’s online retail channels such as Flipkart, the ASUS ZenFone 3s Max comes with a price tag of 14,999 INR (RM987.10). Do you think the ZenFone 3s Max will be worth the upgrade?
