All thanks to the Steam Deck, we are finally seeing bigger guys like ASUS releasing a mobile handheld gaming PC to the market to directly compete with, as the company is set to introduce the ROG Ally on May 11, which is confirmed to be powered by a custom AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip with RDNA 3 graphics and features a 7-inch 120Hz Full HD touch display with FreeSync support.
As the launch date draws near, Twitter user SnoopyTech has leaked that the ROG Ally could have a starting price of US$699.99 (RM3,122) with 512GB of storage, which is US$51 more than the Steam Deck of the same storage, though the ROG Ally will feature a more powerful processor and runs Windows 11, which you can literally treat it like a typical computer, run full Windows programs and games on other platforms.
Other features of the ROG Ally include having 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, upgradable M.2 2230 storage and support for 65W fast charging that gets the device charged from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes.
Prior to the launch, I had a brief moment with an engineering sample of the ROG Ally in closed doors, while I am not allowed to share any photos of the device, my first impression of it was a good one when I briefly played Cyberpunk 2077 on it, I especially loved the aesthetic and controls of the device, and the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip that powers it is going to impress many gamers.
