The all new Ford Mustang roars into Malaysia

Out of all the cars that were manufactured in the United States, none may be as iconic as the Ford Mustang. If you’ve ever dreamed of buying one without going through the hassle of importing it, there’s some good news for you as Ford and local distributor Sime Darby Auto Connexion has officially brought in the new Ford Mustang.

The new Ford Mustang is slightly different from the ones that you remember as it now sports a clean-sheet design. However, key design elements such as the long sculpted hood and the short rear deck are retained, giving the car the unmistakable Mustang-look while balancing world-class dynamics to deliver a superior ride quality. The interiors of the Mustang weren’t compromised either as a high degree of craftsmanship can be found inside the car. The large, clear instrumentation puts vehicle information right in front of the driver in the roomy cabin, while thoughtful ergonomics and tactile switches and knobs provide precise control.

As for horsepower, the new Ford Mustang comes in two flavours. The first is the classic 5.0 litre V8 Mustang that features an upgraded valve train and cylinder heads, and is capable of pumping out 416PS of power and 530Nm of torque. The new intake manifold improves the car’s low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability and emissions, making it the most powerful V* engine in GT history.

The other version is the state-of-the-art 2.3-litre EcoBoost Mustang. This particular Mustang uses direct injection, variable cam timing and turbo charging to deliver fantastic performance and fuel efficiency. A unique intake manifold and turbocharger housing is also present on this Mustang, allowing the car to deliver 317PS of power and 432Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the original V8-powered 1964 Mustang.

The power plant for both Mustangs are complemented by a smooth, six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, giving drivers the thrill of using a manual transmission by toggling the race-car inspired paddle shifters located on the steering wheel to shift gears up or down without needing a clutch. Active grille shutters will also help improve fuel efficency by further reducing drag at high sppeds when cooling capacity is not needed. When the shutters are closed, air will be sent over and around the car instead of through the engine compartment.

Other technologies and safety features can be found in the new Ford Mustangs as well. Examples includes the Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) which balances brake force between front and rear wheels during an emergency, AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) which adjusts to provide the driver with greater control in a range of road and weather conditions, in comfort, sport and normal modes.

Both Ford Mustangs are now available for purchase. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost Mustang is priced from RM 488,888, while the 5.0-litre V8 Mustang is priced from RM 598,888 without road insurance. Both variants are available in Race Red, Oxford White, Shadow Black, Deep Impact Blue and Magnetic colours. A special Triple Yellow Tri-Coat colour is available for the 5.0-litre V8 Mustang.
