TAG Heuer launches the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 smartwatch

Earlier this week, we’ve reported that TAG Heuer will be announcing a new modular smartwatch. Today, we’ve finally get our first glimpse at said smartwatch and as expected, the watch doesn’t come cheap.

Called the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45, this 45mm smartwatch sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, an Intel Atom Z34XX series intel processor, 4GB of RAM, a battery life that exceeds 24 hours, and runs on the new Android Wear 2.0 platform.

The modularity of the Connected Modular 45 is where things get interesting. Aside from the standard smartwatch display, the Connected Modular 45 also comes with a traditional mechnical watch option that turns the smartwatch into a standard luxury Swiss-made watch. The Connected Modular 45 comes with either a Calibre 5 or the premium Heuer O2T Tourbillon module, with the latter sporting “the most accurate mechanical movements around” according to TAG Heuer itself.

Watch modules are the only thing that is interchangeable on the Connected Modular 45 as the straps, buckles and lugs can all be swapped out as well. The standard Connected Modular 45 comes in 11 different designs, with the watch module available in silver or black, while the straps come in rubber, leather, titanium or ceramic options. TAG Heuer will also be offering 45 additional options for the watch that includes materials like patent leather, rose gold and diamonds.

If this watch strikes your fancy, be prepared to pay top dollar for it as the pricing for the Connected Modular 45 begins at USD1,650 (RM7,340). If you have the money to spare, you’ll be pleased to know that the watch will be making its way to Malaysia.
