Synology introduces six-bay DiskStation DS1618+ NAS

As COMPUTEX is just around the corner, Synology has unveiled an all new powerful 6-bay NAS for the tech enthusiast and medium-sized businesses, the DS1618+ is powered by an Intel Atom C3538 quad-core processor paired to 4GB of non-ECC SODIMM DDR4 RAM. The DS1618+ can be expanded up to 32GB DDR4 ECC SODIMM RAM, while you can have up to 192TB of storage when connected to two DX517 expansion units, making it a highly scalable network storage that is capable of running mission critical file transfers and network applications.

The expandability of the DS1618+ doesn’t just end here, because with the optional M2D17 PCIe adapter card, the NAS can house two M.2 SATA SSD to reduce I/O latency by taking advantage of SSD cache. Otherwise, you can opt to install two PCIe network card as the DS1618+ will support dual 10GBe LAN transfers, which gives up to 1551MBps read and 586MBps write throughput.
