Steam will support Bitcoin transactions soon

If you’re one of the few that dabbles in the cryptocurrency known as Bitcoin, we have good news for you: Steam will soon be accepting Bitcoins for transactions.

In a post found on the Steamworks Development’s Steam Community page, the Steam developers has said that Bitcoin support will be coming to the online marketplace soon. To facilitate this feature, Valve will be setting up a partnership with a third-party to process payments made by Bitcoin.

Purchasing a game using Bitcoin is pretty straightforward as all you have to do is to select Bitcoin as the payment method. Once that is done, the payment processor will convert the regional price of the game into Bitcoin based on a daily exchange rate and Steam will deduct the necessary amount from your Bitcoin wallet.

No timeframe was given as to when you’ll be able to purchase games via Bitcoin, but the developers promise that the feature will be coming soon. Knowing Valve and their usage of the word ‘soon’, this feature would probably go live within weeks or years.
