Steam kicks off its annual Autumn Sale; launches the Steam Awards alongside it

We hope that you’re not saving up for anything too important because Steam has just launched its annual Autumn Sale.

From today until the 30th of November, a huge chunk of Steam’s video game catalogue will be heavily discounted, making it easier for anyone to do impulse purchases of games that you’ll likely never play, let alone install.

Besides the huge sales, Valve has also launched something called the Steam Awards. Running in parallel to the Autumn Sales, the Steam Awards will let the Steam Community nominate games to win awards in nine different categories. The nomination period will last until the end of the Autumn Sale, with the actually Steam Awards event itself beginning in December. Nominating games for various categories will earn you a badge for you Steam profile.

If you’re currently cash-strapped at the moment, you can opt to avoid the Autumn Sales for now. After all, we’re just a month away from Steam’s Christmas Sales, and it is likely that the discounts would be deeper then.
