Square Enix will be remastering Final Fantasy XII; will be available for the PS4 in 2017

It seems that Square Enix is not quite done remastering or remaking their Final Fantasy series as the company revealed that it will be remastering Final Fantasy XII.

Scheduled for release in 2016 on the PlayStation 4, this remaster/revamped version of Final Fantasy XII will be titled Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age. Much like the FFX remaster, you can expect the game to run in 1080p. Also like the FFX remake, FFXII The Zodiac Age will be based on Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System. This means that the game will sport a very different levelling mechanic if you’ve played the standard version of FFXII.

Aside from the different job system, FFXII The Zodiac Age will feature auto-save, shorter load times and an improved turbo mode. As for the music, the remaster will feature both the original soundtrack, as well as a re-recorded score. Hopefully, the gameplay gets improved upon as well as FFXII was one of the more divisive installments in the franchise when it first released back in 2006 for the PlayStation 2.
