This Special Edition Galaxy Note 8 costs nearly RM 7,500

Special edition smartphones are becoming more common lately. We saw the likes of OnePlus launching a Star Wars Edition OnePlus 5T in white and an Anniversary Edition Lava Red color option of the same handset. Of course, there’s also the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10, and now Samsung has announced a special edition Galaxy Note 8 in collaboration with art brand 99AVANT.

First things first, the 99AVANT edition of the Galaxy Note 8 will only be limited to South Korean consumers, just like most of its beautifully colored flagship smartphones. The handset will be the Midnight Black Galaxy Note 8 with no difference in design. The specs also remain the same throughout – a 6.3-inch QHD+ display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 256GB storage, dual 12MP rear cameras, 8MP selfie camera and a 3,300mAh battery.

What makes it different is of course the packaging. the 99VANT edition Galaxy Note 8 will come bundled with a tiger artwork case that is autographed by renowned artist Han Seung Woo. On the software side, the Galaxy Note 8 will have several custom wallpapers as well. The phone will also come with a 69cm X 45cm artwork poster to top off the collaboration.

All of these, for a premium price tag of KRW 1,991,000 (RM 7,481.46). We aren’t able to justify on anyone’s behalf, but if someone is an art enthusiast, perhaps he would be willing to spend that amount of money on a smartphone.
