SpaceX’s Starlink is now available in Malaysia from RM220/month

SpaceX’s Starlink, the satellite-powered internet service, has finally marked its presence in Malaysia, following a hint-dropping tease over a year ago. Not long ago, it secured the much-needed Network Facility and Service Provider License, clearing its legal pathway to operate in the region.

Subscriptions are now open, and the service, coupled with essential hardware, is available to everyone in Malaysia, spanning both Peninsular and East Malaysia. As SpaceX indicates, subscribers could tap into download speeds hovering around the 100Mbps mark.

Subscribing to the service is a commitment-free affair at RM220 per month, but you’ll need to part with RM2,300 for the standard kit. This kit packs the Starlink dish, a base, a Wi-Fi router, and all the necessary cables.

For most folks, the standard kit would be ample. However, for businesses and enterprises seeking to harness the satellite service, a high-performance kit could be a worthy investment despite its hefty RM11,613 price tag. This premium kit not only includes a power supply but is also built to tolerate high temperatures, connect to a greater number of satellites, and resist extreme environments.

Regardless of the kit chosen, the monthly subscription remains a flat RM220, plus a shipping fee of RM100 for either kit. Plus, Starlink backs its hardware with a 30-day return policy, ensuring a full refund if customers are not thrilled with their purchase.
