Soon you will be able to control Spotify using Google Assistant

Spotify is finally bringing Google Assistant integration update to its app which will allow you to control the music streaming app using your voice. The news comes directly from Spotify that the company shared in a press release on their website.

The company also goes on to mention that the voice assistant integration will work on all Android phones that support Google Assistant and will be available to both free and premium users of the streaming service without any limitations. To get started, link your Spotify account and set Spotify as the default music app as it will give more freedom to use your voice to control it. At the time of writing, I found that I still could not change the default music service to Spotify but there is still some integration with the assistant. However, it is still quite limited as I can only pause the song playing, go to the next and previous track.

In the press release they did mention that full support for Spotify on Google Assistant will be rolling out in the coming weeks, so don’t forget to update both your Spotify app and Google Assistant when the updates are available.
