Sony introduces its flagship Bravia TV for 2016

Sony’s Bravia line of 4K HDR TVs are getting an update for 2016 as the company has revealed the flagship X93D series at the Sunway Putra Hotel today.

For the X93D series, and indeed the other TV series in the Bravia line, Sony has paid attention to the overall design of the TV itself. Sony believes that a television should be great to look at in any environment. To that end, the company has slimmed down the TVs further. When hung against a wall, the X93D appears to be sitting close to the wall. Another improvement made to the overall design of the X93D is its cable management as the TV is designed in such a way to allow the user to keep the wires out of view.

Available in 55″ and 65″ classes, the X93D series of TVs sports Sony’s new Slim Backlight Drive technology. This tech gives the X93D a new grid-array backlighting structure that is previously only available on full-array backlighting systems. When coupled with Sony’s own X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology, the X93D is able to boost peak brightness and black levels more precisely and enhance contrast levels, all while maintaining a slim form factor.

4K is another major feature of the series as the X93D comes with the 4K Processor X1, a chip that is able to improve clarity, colour accuracy and contrast of HD, 4K and 4K HDR videos. The Bravia’s TRILUMINOS Display is able to take advantage of the X1’s colour mapping technology to reproduce a wider colour range with accurate colour details at any brightness level. The X93D will be running on Android TV right out of the box with Sony’s own user interface on it. The X93D is expected to be available in Malaysia in June. The pricing for the X93D will be revealed at a later date.

Besides the X93D flagship, Sony has also showcased the X85D Series at the event. Being a step down from the X93D, the X85D has all the features the X93D has barring the Slim Backlight Drive and X-tended Dynamic Range PRO. Much like the X93D, the X85D will come in 55″ and 65″ sizes. The X85D is now available in Malaysia and is priced at RM 7,499 for the 55″ version, and RM 10,999 for the 65″ version.
