Snapdragon 898 is reportedly undergoing a name change

Qualcomm’s current naming scheme for their chipsets might have been difficult for some to remember, especially with their wide range of products. If you can relate, then this might be good news to you as rumours are circulating about Qualcomm’s intention to explore new naming conventions for their mobile processors.

Veteran leakers  Digital Chat Station and Ice Universe have mentioned the possibility of a new naming scheme. Instead of Snapdragon 898, it will be named Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead.

Although Ice Universe does mention that this is not finalised, we won’t have to wait long for it to be confirmed by the company itself as it will be hosting its annual Tech Summit later this month – 30 November to 2 December 2021.

Personally, I like where this is going as I tend to get overwhelmed with all the different models that are in the market right now. What do you think?
