Sony Xperia doesn’t quite have the pull it once did in Malaysia – it was, of course the arch rival of Nokia, who’s glory days are also gone past them. The latter have been making strides for a slow, but positive comeback in the country; and we’re thinking Sony could do the same since they had the Xperia 1 pre-order sale recently, signing intentions to revive re-establish the brand in Malaysia.
The Xperia is still popular in its native Japan, and that’s where this news emerges from – it seems like Sony is working on a new flagship that will come with the next generation Snapdragon 865 chipset.
GSM Arena reports on a leaked SoC that lists the model number SM8250 – the part number of the current Snapdragon 855 is SM8150, so this assumption could very well be true. With it being a ‘next generation’ device, we’ll most likely see it come with a 5G variant as well.
The Snapdragon 855 and 855+ are both mighty fast enough now – however, the Snapdragon 865 could pave the way for high screen refresh rates as standard, higher imaging resolutions, higher graphic fidelity in mobile games and smaller processes.
