Sega to introduce Mega Drive Classic retro home console

With Nintendo announcing a the NES Classic, Sega is getting into the act as well with the announcement of the Sega Mega Drive Classic Home Console.

The Sega Mega Drive Classic will come in two variants. The first is the standard home console version that will support two controllers, as well as a cartridge slot that can fit your old school Mega Drives. The other version is a Game Gear-ish portable device that comes with an SDcard reader. Sega has stated that this version would be able to read ROMs loaded onto the SDcard. Both devices will come pre-loaded with 80 classic games from the Mega Drive’s catalogue, with some of the bigger names being Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, and Phantasy Star.

Before you get too excited though, you should know that the Sega Mega Drive Classic is a licensed product made by a Chinese manufacturer called At Games. The device itself isn’t made by Sega, which means that the quality could range from good to bad. If you are interested in the device nonetheless, both devices will be available in October 2016 with a price tag of USD65.62 (RM266.71).
