Yes, we know we’ve been bombarding you with a lot of news from Samsung of late, but you can’t deny that they’ve been busy during the course of the CES 2020 convention these past few days.
One news however, that has come out of left flank is the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro – a smartphone that, get this, has swappable batteries – amazing, we know.
Hot-swapping batteries on smartphones are a thing of the past – but Samsung reckons there’s still a need for something the feature. The Galaxy XCover Pro succeeds 2017’s XCover 4. It sports a more updated look with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display.

There’s also a punch-hole selfie camera that shoots at a 13MP resolution. The phone keeps the series’ rugged aesthetic tradition with a matte black finish and thick bezels. Over on the back, you’ll find a dual camera setup – 25MP main + 8MP ultrawide.
Under the hood, you get an octa-core Exynos 9611 chipset with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The battery itself is a 4,050mAh pack that supports up to 15W fast charging. As mentioned, the battery can be swapped, and with an IP68 water and dust resistant rating, the phone can take a beating.
The phone is priced at 499 Euros (RM2,268) and will be available in Finland first on January 31, while the rest of Europe could get it in February. There’s no word on whether it’ll be in Malaysia at all, but we think it’s still a cool device even if just nostalgic.
