Just when we thought Huawei will beat Samsung in releasing the first smartphone with Infinity-O display on 17 December, Samsung surprised everyone with its announcement on Weibo, stating that the Galaxy A8s will be launched earlier than Huawei’s Nova 4 because it’ll be revealed on 10 December, which is in less than a week’s time.

Samsung posted on its Weibo account, revealing a teaser poster that confirms the Galaxy A8s will not only be arriving with an Infinity-O display, but also be arriving faster than Huawei’s first Infinity-O display smartphone. It will be launched in Beijing, China and the Chinese words on the poster suggests that future Samsung devices will also be integrated with the Infinity-O display, which many are expecting to be the Galaxy S10 series.

While it is not confirmed, rumour has it that the A8s will come with 6.3-inch LCD display, and the hole on the display will house a 24MP front camera. It will also come with a USB Type-C port and might be Samsung’s first device to ditch the headphone jack.

The phone will also be expected to use Snapdragon 710 considering it’s a midrange smartphone, and come with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone will also be seen with a triple rear camera setup that might be of 25MP+5MP+10MP, and the battery is assumed to be of 3500mAh.

For now, it’s a definite win for Samsung in the race between Samsung and Huawei but what matters most is the quality of the smartphones that will be discovered when both devices are available to consumers.
