Samsung revealed the Portable Solid State Drive (SSD) T7 Touch at CES, set to be available within the month at the starting price of $129.99.

The T7 Touch has major improvements over its predecessor, but the highlight is the integration of a built-in fingerprint sensor on the device to provide additional security. As the sensor can support up to four different fingerprints, you can also share the storage drive with your colleagues for work purposes or with your friends or family. There’s even a “Motion LED” feature that can help the user determine when the device is in process of data transmission.

Apart from its outer design, Samsung also increased the transfer speed of the device based on USB Gen 3.2 standards. The T7 Touch now has a read speed of 1,050MB/s and a write speed of 1,000MB/s — Samsung says that’s “twice as fast” as compared to its predecessor, the T5. While the T5 was 4.9x faster than external HDDs, the T7 Touch is 9.5x faster.

Despite the major improvements, the device is only 7g heavier than its predecessor at 58g. It is bundled with a USB Type-C-to-C cable and also a USB Type-C-to-A cable, in addition to being compatible with Windows, Mac and Android operating systems.

The T7 Touch will go on sale in more than 30 countries by the end of this month, with the 500GB model priced at $129.99, the 1TB model priced at $299.99 and the 2TB model priced at $399.99.
