After announcing a registration of interest event last week, Samsung has officially unveiled the Smart Monitor M8 in Malaysia for a rather steep price tag of RM3,488, but before you start ranting, Samsung is offering customers free gifts of up to RM947 when you pre-order the monitor, the gifts include a Smart Keyboard Trio 500, Bluetooth Mouse Slim and Samsung Buds Live, which are decent additions to get you kick started with the Smart Monitor M8.
Sporting a 32-inch VA panel with a 3840×2160 resolution, the Samsung Smart Monitor M8 is an ultra sleek monitor that comes preloaded with Tizen OS, the same operating system that powers up the company’s TV line ups, so you get access to streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, and expand its features just like its Smart TVs.
Compared to the Smart Monitor M7, which is also available in a 32-inch model, the Smart Monitor M8 features a brighter display panel that now goes all the way up to 400 nits, which is the reason that it is now HDR10+ certified, the speaker system has also been updated to a 2.2-channel speaker system, while it supports Samsung’s Adaptive Sound+ that automatically adjusts sound based on the type of content and noise levels within a user’s environment.
The biggest addition to the Smart Monitor M8 is a SlimFit camera that attaches magnetically to the back of the monitor where you can use it not only for your usual conference calls, but also natively supports Google Duo that can be accessed within the monitor’s operating system. Without a PC, the Smart Monitor M8 can still be your productivity hub as it supports Samsung DeX and Microsoft 365, which all you need is to connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to get started.
Samsung also wants the Smart Monitor M8 to be your smart home hub, as the monitor can control SmartThings enabled home appliances, while it also supports both Bixby and Amazon Alexa voice assistants, AirPlay 2 mirroring, USB-C charging up to 65W, this is quite a lot of things packed into this sleek 32-inch panel.
