Samsung receives first lawsuit over exploding Note 7

It was only a matter of time until Samsung gets sued for their exploding Note 7. Lo and behold, Samsung has received their first lawsuit over the weekend as a Florida man is taking the Korean company to court.

The lawsuit is initiated by Jonathan Strobel on Friday, and is the first case of an United States’ user suing Samsung over the Note 7’s battery defect. According to the lawsuit, Strobel was in a Costco store in Palm Beach Gardens on the 9th of September when his Note 7 exploded. The exploding Note 7 burned through his pants, leaving him with severe burns on his right leg. The lawsuit also states that Strobel was severely burned on his left thumb after he reached over to try to remove the phone from his pants. “He has a deep second-degree burn, roughly the size of the phone, on his right thigh,” says Strobel’s lawyer Keith Pierro. “Unfortunately for my client the recall came too late.”

Strobel is now seeking unspecified damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other alleged injuries. With Strobel officially bringing a lawsuit to Samsung’s doorstep, you can expect the company to receive more lawsuits over the coming weeks.
