Samsung patents suggest physical controllers for future phones

Not long after news surfaced of Samsung’s Galaxy F foldable smartphones being in development, the Korean tech giants have released patents that suggest they intend to integrate what seem to be physical controllers with the phone.

The image shows off the flexibility of the phone, being able to take on different configurations – a smartphone, a tablet, a tablet with controller extensions and a Nintendo Switch-esque form.

Another patent shows that the physical controllers can be rotated vertically to align with which ever side of the screen you use. Right off the bat, the controller looks a little out of place, but time will tell how Samsung plans to refine their design.

The Galaxy F series is expected to make an appearance at the Unpacked event in San Francisco this February 20.
