Samsung partners with Malaysia brands to optimize their apps for foldables

In an ambitious move to redefine foldable device experiences for Malaysians, Samsung Malaysia Electronics is harnessing the power of local organizations and the creative minds of university students. This joint endeavor aims to enhance the usability and versatility of the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip devices, thereby making foldable UI/UX more accessible.

Five leading local entities, namely AmBank, Family Mart, Maxis, Pay4U, and ZUS Coffee, have kicked off the partnership. Taking advantage of Samsung’s and Android platform’s advanced capabilities, they are optimizing their local apps to provide an elevated user experience. Their innovative app adaptations were recently showcased at a partner sharing session themed ‘Reimagining Foldables for Malaysians’, where they demonstrated flexible screen expansions and multi-angle fold use.

Samsung is planning to broaden this partnership in the coming months, with potential additions like Gigi Coffee, Golden Screen Cinemas, TGV Cinemas, and Zapp. As part of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) mission, Samsung will also be fostering innovation among local students through a hackathon in collaboration with universities. Here, students will have the opportunity to pitch their unique foldable app ideas, encouraging them to become influential contributors to the tech sector.

Luke Au, Head of Product Marketing, Mobile eXperience at Samsung Malaysia, expressed his enthusiasm about this new initiative: “At Samsung, we are deeply passionate about bringing mobile innovation that matters to our consumers. As we strive to popularize foldable smartphones, we are joining forces with homegrown brands to deliver unique, localized Galaxy Z experiences via their apps—apps that Malaysians engage with on a daily basis. We warmly welcome more local organizations to join us in this industry collaboration, aimed at enriching their customer experiences.”

This initiative underscores Samsung’s commitment to innovating technology that is not only cutting-edge, but also deeply integrated into the everyday lives of their users.
