Samsung may hold a New York launch event for the Galaxy S8 in April

Rumours about Samsung’s Galaxy S8 having a delayed launch may be proven true after all as Korean publication Naver has reported that the S8 will be launched at a dedicated event held in New York during the month of April.

Citing people who’ve attended an executive meeting at Samsung’s headquarters in South Korea as sources, the publication reports that Samsung has delayed the launch of the S8 due to the Galaxy Note 7 disaster that the company is still trying to recover from. To that end, Samsung will be using the extra time to perform quality assurance testing in order to prevent history from repeating itself.

Samsung’s decision to delay the launch of Galaxy S8 means that the smartphone will not be part of the Mobile World Congress line-up for 2017. Seeing as Samsung can ill-afford another device failure at this point, the decision to push back the launch of the S8 is probably a wise decision indeed. In the meantime, we can expect more details about the S8 to leak within the next four months.
