Samsung launches Galaxy A33 5G, A53 5G and A73 5G with IP67 and OIS cameras

Samsung has certainly ramped up its ‘Awesome’ efforts with three new Galaxy A series smartphones, they are the Galaxy A33 5G, A53 5G and A73 5G, they come with IP67 water and dust resistance, 5000mAh batteries with 25W fast charging, OIS main cameras and large high refresh rate screens, though sadly there’s no headphone a jacks on them and they are all made with the same polycarbonate build we’ve seen on last year’s Galaxy A series.

Leading the pack, the Galaxy A73 5G features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O Super AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz, performance is delivered by a trusty Snapdragon 778G chipset supported by 8GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage.

In terms of cameras, the A73 5G features a quad-camera array comprising a 108MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultrawide, 5MP bokeh and 5MP macro lens, the main camera will take videos up to 4K30 resolution, while the front camera is a 32MP with support for 1080p60 video recording.

The Galaxy A53 5G offers a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Infinity-O Super AMOLED display that refreshes at 120Hz, which isn’t too different from its predecessor, though instead of the Snapdragon 778G, you get Samsung’s new 5nm Exynos 1280 chip paired to 8GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, Samsung claims that the chip is a direct competition to Qualcomm’s recent Snapdragon 700 series chipset, so you should expect some good efficiency and performance out of it.

While the A53 5G shares the same supplementary cameras as the A73 5G, its main camera resolution has been reduced to 64MP with OIS, the front camera remains the same at 32MP.

As the entry level model, the A33 5G isn’t too shabby either and is a huge upgrade from the old A32 5G, it has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Infinity-U Super AMOLED display that refreshes at 90Hz, brightness is fortunately maintained at 800 nits like the others, it is powered by the same Exynos 1280 chip however with 6GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

Camera wise, the main, ultrawide and bokeh lens resolution are reduced to 48MP, 8MP and 2MP respectively, the macro camera remains at 5MP.

With all these upgrades, Samsung has certainly made these new mid-range phones noteworthy, especially with the inclusion of IP67 water and dust resistance, which could give similar class smartphones a run for their money.

These new Galaxy A series phones are priced as below:

Galaxy A53 5G – RM1849

Galaxy A73 5G – RM2049
