Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 phone that has been the signature of the company for many years. Its been a long time coming with many leaks and rumours put to rest, the Note 9 is finally here.
The phone comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ screen which should be stunning. Other than that, it comes in two variants of 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and an 8GB RAM with 512GB of storage with the option of expanding the storage to 1TB. The phone is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 845 processor but the Asian region will get the latest Exynos 9820 processor. Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery which Samsung has claimed will give you an entire day of use even when playing games and watching a movie
On the back, you will find the same dual 12MP cameras with f/1.5 and f/2.4 variable aperture which was seen in the Galaxy S9 Plus. However, they have improved the camera software with scene recognition which is not new in smartphones, but it does have a detection system that will tell you there is a flaw in the picture before you take it like closed eyes or its overexposed. Samsung has also mentioned that the phone will be perfect for you to play games as not only does it come with a big screen, it also has a water-carbon cooling system that keeps the phone cool and recent Galaxy devices will be automatically signed up to the Fortnite Android beta.
Then we come to the S-Pen, a feature that not many Note users utilise. Now the S-Pen comes with Bluetooth connectivity and not only will it help you take pictures when you press the button on the S-Pen, it also gives you the ability to pause and play YouTube videos, move to the next and previous slide in a presentation. Samsung has claimed that the pen will give you an hour of use with just a minute of charging it. They are also opening up the SDK to app developers so they can integrate the functions of the S-Pen into their apps.
Other than just the S-Pen, Samsung DeX has also be upgraded where you won’t need to use a dock anymore as it supports the use of USB Type-C to HDMI cable to access the desktop mode. Just like the Mate 10, you will be able to use your phone normally while in desktop mode.
The Galaxy Note 9 will come in four colours of Ocean Blue, Lavender Purple, Midnight Black and Metallic Copper. The phone will be available starting August 24th with a retail price of $999 for the 6GB RAM 128GB storage variant and $1,250 for the 8GB RAM 512GB variant.
