Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series goes official: Packs host of new health tracking features and One UI Watch OS

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic are now official – both sporting the brand’s newest wearable software, One UI Watch. With this new software, Samsung promises plenty of improvements in the sleep management, and UX departments with its ability to be used seamlessly with other Galaxy devices. New features on the Watch4 series include the Samsung BioActive Sensor that packs three sensors in one chip – these sensors measure Optical Heart Rate (PPG), Electrocardiogram (ECG) and the Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA). Packing three sensors into one chip allows the watch to keep a more compact form factor. There’s also a new body composition analysis tool that gives you data on your physical composition such as skeletal muscle, fat mass, body fat, BMI, and water. Other software features include your usual heart rate and SpO2 tracker, blood pressure and ECG monitoring, smart fitness tracking, Bixby voice command, gesture controls, and more. Enabling all this is a powerful Exynos W920 chipset which is the first 5nm architecture chip used in a Galaxy Watch. Samsung claims that this allows 50% more RAM capacity, 20% faster CPU performance, and 10x increase in GPU performance. When it comes to design, the Galaxy Watch4 comes with two buttons on the side with no rotating bezels, while the Watch4 Classic sports a rotating bezel to accent the watch’s 1.19-inch Super AMOLED display. Samsung claims that these watches are both thinner and sleeker than its predecessors. Powering the device is a battery that lasts up to 40 hours on a single charge; you can also get 10 hours of use after a 30-minute charge, while a full charge will take less than two hours. The Galaxy Watch4 comes in 40mm and 40mm variants and is available in Black, Silver Green (44mm); and Pink Gold (40mm); it’s priced at $249.99 (about RM1,059); meanwhile the Galaxy Watch4 Classic comes in Black and Silver (42mm and 46mm); it’s priced at $349.99 (about RM1,483). There's no word on when it'll arrive in Malaysia or its local pricing yet, but we'll be sure to keep you update when more information arrives.
