Samsung Galaxy A2 Core goes official with 5-inch display and Android 9.0 Pie (Go Edition)

Samsung has finally introduced the Galaxy A2 Core Android Go smartphone. The new entry-level smartphone succeeds the Galaxy J2 Core Android Go smartphone that Samsung launched last year. While it is similar to its predecessor in some areas, there are a few notable differences as well.

The entry-level Galaxy A2 Core sports a 5-inch TFT LCD display panel with 540 x 960 qHD resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz with a Mali-T830 GPU, making it the company’s most powerful Android Go phone yet. In terms of memory, however, the A2 Core is identical to its rivals with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage.

For optics, Galaxy A2 Core has 5MP cameras on both sides. The rear camera is coupled with an f/1.9 aperture and an LED flash. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, FM radio, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. As is usually the case with Android Go smartphones, the Galaxy A2 Core does not pack a large battery. It only has a 2600mAh capacity cell, identical to the Galaxy J2 Core.

The Samsung Galaxy A2 Core will soon go on sale in India in Black and White color options with a price tag of INR 5,290 (RM314). It is likely to go on sale in other markets by the end of the current quarter.
