Samsung’s Note 7 aspirations has quite literally gone up in smoke, joined by a series of software improvements made to the device. In an attempt to salvage some of the software improvements made to the Note 7, it appears that Samsung has begun rolling out updates to the S7 and S7 Edge’s Always On Display (AOD) feature to make it function like the one found on the Note 7.
With the latest update, S7 and S7 Edge users will see their phone’s AOD feature being updated to version 1.4.02. Once installed, the phone’s AOD would then receive some of the Note 7 features. Chief among them includes better battery consumption, expanded clock options, information of the current song being shown on the AOD, and more.
There are some features of the Note 7’s AOD that did not make it to the S7 and S7 Edge of course. For one, the updated AOD on the S7 and S7 Edge will not be able to show notifications from third party apps, as well as the phone’s stock e-mail app. Features that require the use of the stylus, such as the AOD Notes features, will also be absent from the S7 and S7 Edge.
