Revisiting the iQOO Z7 in Supernova Orange

iQOO may have just made presence in the Malaysian market not too long ago, but it has certainly delivered compelling value to Malaysian customers in a short period of time, starting with the flagship iQOO 11, the nation’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered smartphone at that time, and more recently, the iQOO Z7, which is the unarguably the most value for money mid-range gaming phone with superfast 120W FlashCharge available in an attractive Supernova Orange color.

There’s no denying that we are presented with so many choices of smartphones today, but one thing for sure is that the iQOO Z7 Supernova Orange is one of the more outstanding phones we have seen till today, the Supernova Orange color features a head-turning premium and stylish orange stripe design that’s rarely seen on smartphones, complete with a premium orange color frame, it really makes a fashion statement when you take it out of your pockets.

In addition, the iQOO Z7 has many practical features that you don’t usually find on similar priced phones these days, such as a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio, an IR blaster for controlling home appliances, a reliable side mounted fingerprint reader, a 6.64-inch Full HD+ IPS display that offers a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and dual stereo speakers for a great music listening and movie watching session.

Having revisited the iQOO Z7 for the past two weeks, the one thing it has continued to keep me impressed is the performance, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 782G processor paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, though on paper it is far from being a flagship smartphone, it doesn’t slow down at all in a busy workday when I am constantly switching between apps.

When it comes to gaming, the iQOO Z7 is more than capable of delivering a smooth and reliable gameplay, all thanks to its large vapor cooling chamber which allows its performance to remain consistent by dissipating heat efficiently out of the phone’s body, the Snapdragon 782G can deliver smooth 60 fps gameplay on graphics heavy titles such as Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact and PUBG Mobile.

Although the iQOO Z7 features a 5000mAh battery like many similar class phones, what’s different here is the dual cell battery design, which allows the battery to be charged faster more efficiently and the only phone within the same price range to support 120W FlashCharge, it gets you from 0-100% in 26 minutes and a quick 5 minute charge would have easily gotten you 50% of charge if you fully deplete the battery.

Most mid-range gaming phones tend to neglect their camera’s image quality, with brands usually claiming that most gamers don’t really care about cameras on their phones. Thankfully, the iQOO Z7 is equipped with a very capable 64-megapixel main camera with OIS, assisted by a secondary 2-megapixel depth camera, the main camera will take clear photos even in low light conditions when you have shaky hands, while the iQOO Z7’s powerful processor allows it to take videos up to 4K resolution at 30 fps.
