Redmi Y3 unveiled with 32MP AI selfie camera and 4000mAh battery

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi has added a new member to its lineup of budget-friendly smartphones. The new Redmi Y3 is targeted at all selfie fanatics out there with its impressive 32MP selfie camera. In other areas, however, the new phone is virtually identical to the Redmi 7.

The Redmi Y3 comes with a 6.26-inch Dot Notch display featuring HD+ resolution, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and a high screen-to-body ratio. Just like the Redmi 7 launched last month, Redmi Y3 is powered by a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor. It comes with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

At the rear, Redmi Y3 has a 12MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The back of the phone also houses an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner. On the front is an impressive 32MP AI selfie camera featuring 1.6um 4-in-1 Super Pixel for impressive low-light performance. Fueling the selfie-focused handset is a 4000mAh non-removable battery with 10W charging.

In terms of design, the Redmi Y3 boasts the company’s new Aurora design language with gradient color options. It comes with P2i hydrophobic coating as well. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10. The first country to get the Redmi Y3 is India, where it is set to go on sale starting April 30 with a price tag of INR 9,999 (RM590) for the base 3GB + 32GB version.
