Redmi Watch launched: Priced at about RM185

It’s smartwatch season apparently – the likes of vivo, OPPO, and realme have entered the market this year with their own takes on the smartwatch; not to be undone by the competition, Redmi too now has their own entry.

Aptly named the Redmi Watch, the 1.4-inch device comes with full-colour 320×320 resolution display. The watch is square and looks to have drawn design inspirations from the popular Apple Watch.

There are over 120 watch faces to make the device your own, all of which can be downloaded through the Mi Fit app. There are seven sports modes on top of health monitoring features such as heart rate-tracking, and sleep monitoring.

You also get Bluetooth 5.0 with NFC, and a 5ATM water resistance-rating which means the watch can be taken for a dive up to 50m underwater.

When it comes to battery life, you are promised 7-days of usage, which is not bad; meanwhile with power saving mode on, you can extend use the watch for up to 12 days. It charges using a proprietary charger and will about 2 hours to fully juice the device.

The Redmi Watch comes in a decent array of colours such as black, navy, white, beige and green. It’s currently only being sold in China for 299 Yuan (about RM185) starting December 1. There’s no word yet on when it’ll arrive in Malaysia, but with every major smartphone brand having a presence in the local smartwatch market, we can see Redmi wanting a slice of the pie as well.
